Harrington Homes

I think of all the “new” words, Green has to be the one I hear most frequently.  People ask if we are building green and for most, when I answer yes, they are usually satisfied without further discussion of the specifics. 

I think that shades of green is a better way to look at the way we build now.   We do a lot of basic “green” things in all our Harrington Homes like selecting manufacturers that are located as close as possible to reduce shipping emissions, using concrete with recycled materials, low E coated windows with argon gas insulation, thicker exterior walls, high efficiency furnaces and more. 

We offer more green options than ever.  Since each customer has a different level of interest, we try to tailor each home’s specifications to them.  Things like Geothermal heating and cooling, solar that can turn back the electric meter and even wind are creating more interest and can be among the choices that a customer can make today when they build with Harrington Homes. 

With the speed that things are changing lately, I wouldn’t be surprised if many of these things I have just described and more became standard as the cost of these systems drop and as energy continues to get more expensive.

Over the years, the professionals at Harrington Homes have developed a home building process that has been praised by its customers.

The process is highly collaborative.  We work hand-in-hand with our customers and our vendors to make the process of building a new home as positive and fruitful as possible.

In general, our process includes:

1. Review of locations, plans and options
2. Blueprint development, design and customization decisions
3. Pricing/estimating, contracting and financing
4. Pre-construction meeting, “just before we dig”
5. Permit procurement, staking, digging… through… framing
6. Selections and installation of cabinetry, fixtures, flooring, colors, hardware and others.

While some of these steps are the same as other builders may use, there are several parts of our process that make working with Harrington Homes a pleasure:

1. We personally take our customers to our cabinet, electrical, plumbing, tile and carpet suppliers to help them with their selections.
2. Once we begin construction, we talk to our customers regularly about their selections and our construction progress.
3. We are available to answer questions for our customers throughout the building process.
4. When the home is complete, we conduct a new home orientation and complete our thorough inspection process.
5. We stand behind our homes with service after the sale.
